Monte
Mayor Country Club
Benahavis |

This
is quite hilly and uneven terrain, so it is advisable to take
a cart. The topographical conditions make it difficult and
at the same time attractive to play on, since it shows a natural
and wild face. Various bridges link fairways and tees. The
hilly nature of the course will attract many players. The
7th hole is on a plateau with a lake next to the green. Along
the course, precipices, slopes and fauna such as eagles, vultures
or deer might pop up to add even more excitement to the game.
For some, this course offers the best greens on the Costa
del Sol. Up the mountain, within the muncipality of Benhavis,
a small village behind Marbella, and built on very hilly land,
it is considered by many challenging players as a temptation
in the midst of the most spectacular scenery. Its design,
by Malaga born Jose Gancedo, Skilfully done, fits the orography
and has a total of six bridges connecting the tees with the
fairways, and these with the greens. Due to the lie of the
land, the course has a fair amount of ups and downs, but these
same characteristics make it an invition for players who like
taking risks.
It also shows some peculiarities, like the par-four 7th hole
that gives the choice to use any-club. Players seem to be
pratically unanimous to highlight the par-four 7th hole. Its
tee is elevated, and when tee-ing off, care must be taken
in the first and second shot to land the ball on an island,
Its round ends on a green, next to a lake, which has a waterfall.
