Atalaya
Golf
& Country Club San Pedro de Alcántara
This
is the Atalaya Golf and Country Club´s new course. It
is located on terrain which slopes towards the end of the
round. The first 9 holes are laid out around a stream. The
greens are wide, so it is important to place the ball correctly
for your approach. The 4th hole is worth mentioning, because
the player has to cross a lake from an elevated tee protected
by two bunkers. The last 9 holes are on more uneven and hilly
ground. There are wonderful views beyond and behind the club´s
other course.
Atalaya Complex:
This hotel and golf complex is very well-organized and fulfils
perfectly the expectations of the players, especially the
average golfer. In fact, the two courses of this club are
amongst the most popular ones on the Costa del Sol.
Atalaya Golf:
Opened in 1966 and designed by Herr Vonn Limburguer, Atalaya
Golf is a course with character, with a well-gained reputation
as a "friendly" course, due to the characteristics
of its lay out. It is considered to be adaptable to all levels
and ideal for inexperienced players.
There are no significant ups and downs. The tees are very
versatile with spacious and smooth fairways. The greens are
quite quick and most of them elevated; all lined up with trees,
mainly eucalyptus, pines and a variety of bushes. The Club
has a school that gives lessons in different languages and
has one of the largest practising courses in Spain. The Club
House is built along the lines of a Swiss chalet and provides
all kind of services to players, besides various putting greens
and a practice area.
