This
course, located just 2km from the airport has 27 holes over
800 square metres. It has 3 nine hole courses; the South course,
the North course and the Links course with which you can mix
and match to make a full round.Combine the nine holes of the
North with the nine holes of the South to make a par 72 of
5,870 that is a real test of accuracy. The North has a particularly
challenging 3rd hole with water to the right of its wide fairway
guards the golfer from an amazing white rock ravine and what
is known as 'malpais' or bad country and to the left is a
wide bunker of black volcanic sand.
The course, which combines wide fairways, large greens and
distinctive black sand bunkers, has been home to many top
international events.The
Open de Tenerife was played here for the first time in 1989.
Jose Maria Olazabal won the tournament and went on to win
again in 1992. David Gilford was victorious in 1993 and Mark
James won the year later.
In 1995 Shells Wonderful World of Golf series was held here
when Ernie Els and Phil Mickelson went head to head, with
the former sweeping to victory. The clubhouse offers a bar,
dining room facilities and golf equipment hire. Also available
at the club are excellent practise facilities, tennis courts
and bowls.
